O Christmas Tree!

Tonight was the much anticipated night of tree decorating at our house! For the past several years my parents have come for dinner and then help decorate the tree. I began this tradition out of self preservation. You see Chris turns into the Grinch when it comes to Christmas decorations. He would prefer to completely skip this part of Christmas. So in order not to start World War III, I began having my parents over to help me and Taylor decorate the tree. It has turned into a very fun tradition that both my girls & I (yes, even Chris) enjoy. As you can see by the picture Chris actually participated this year (and by participated, I mean stayed down in the same room as us).

As I turned off all the lights downstairs and the Christmas tree lights were the only lights left glowing, I finally felt like it was Christmastime! It was peaceful and beautiful. It is a lot of fun this year for me as I watch the girls begin to understand the true meaning of Christmas. Don't get me wrong -- there are still letters to Santa and wish lists left all over the house -- but they also include in their night time prayers a thanks to God for sending Jesus as a baby. In all the craziness of the holidays, my prayer for each of us is to slow down and celebrate the birth of Jesus! I still plan on buying gifts, decorating cookies and singing Christmas carols as loud as I can in the car, but hope my joy rests in baby Jesus all year long!
